The edge-space which is traced by the distance between Paris and Cergy constitutes the very matter of Annie Ernaux’s Journal du dehors. Through our reading of her work, we can outline a reflection on the space of the edge, or the border, around, in and outside of the “Ville Nouvelle”. We set out to see how this porous border, which is at the same time geographic, temporal and fictional, shapes the text and its space.
